Global Shakespeares: Adaptations in Modern Culture

Global Perspectives Stage 8 students were tasked with researching, analyzing, reflecting, and collaborating on a Global Shakespeares project.

The project entailed researching different cultures, how Shakespeare impacted that culture, analyzing concepts of globalization and what that means, and then produce their own poster that demonstrates a clear understanding of adaptations, Sonnet 18 by Shakespeare, and their researched culture.

Edgar Allan Poe, the Romantic Era, and Digital Poetry

Global Perspectives Stage 9 students were tasked with researching, analyzing, reflecting, and collaborating on a Romantic Era Digital Poetry project.

The project entailed researching American Romanticism, Poe’s works within the period, how his Gothic poetry impacted future cultural movements, poetry, and digital culture. Students researched different attributes, types, and concepts behind digital poetry and analyzed the ways in which we can adapt literary era ideals into a new medium, concept, and in what ways can we promote the emotion, imagination, and individuality promoted in the Romantic period. Students were tasked with creating two different digital poems: one as an adaptation of Poe’s “A Dream Within a Dream” and one that resembles the Romantic Era ideals and of their own design.
